Core Requirements

Contract: at least 6 months

  • Highly qualified employment
  • Qualifying education or recognised professional experience

  • Salary meeting the current statutory threshold
  • Employment Service consent
  • Valid travel and immigration documents

Salary & Qualifications

The salary must generally meet the latest officially published average annual gross salary in Slovenia. The exact euro amount must be checked before filing.

High professional qualifications may be shown through formal higher education or qualifying professional experience in recognised circumstances. Regulated professions can require separate recognition.

Validity & Mobility

First Blue Card

Up to 2 years

For shorter contracts, generally the contract period plus three months, within the maximum.

Renewal

Up to 3 years

Subject to continued eligibility.

Employer Change

Approval in first 12 months

Applicable consent and notification procedures must be completed.

EU Mobility

Potentially after 12 months

Mobility to another participating state remains subject to that state's requirements.
